Costa Rica could receive 3 million tourists this year

The entry of new airlines to Costa Ricans from European skies will affect the number of tourists who will arrive this year, now paints good prospects, exceed 3 million visitors.

It is this dynamism that the Swiss Edelweiss Costa Rica decided to announce a direct flight from Zurich twice a week from May 2017.

“When we look at the advantages and growth as a tourist destination there was no doubt that San Jose had to be our market,” said Felipe Boniffati, Edelweiss manager for Central America and the Caribbean.

“We see the rise of Swiss passengers is higher year on year; therefore, it is time to make this announcement and next year have a direct flight between San Jose and the heart of Switzerland “.

The airline joins Air France will begin direct operation from Paris in next November, in addition to Condor, which will fly a new route from Munich, and British Airways, which began flights to London last April.

For the next few months is expected to close at least one trading over other European company and maybe some American, said Mauricio Ventura, Minister of Tourism.
