The ash that launched the Turrialba volcano since Thursday and reached to reach 54 kilometers from the crater contains magma, according to a study published yesterday by the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI).
Four samples of the ash emanating from the Turrialba volcano eruptions last Thursday and collected near the crater and Vázquez de Coronado, San Jose, reveal that 99% of its content is old rock material.
Many Costa Rican families that live near the volcano, have been out of their homes until everything goes back to normal.
